The Bikes Belong Coalition wants more retail members and has lowered dues for dealers joining for the first time to $100. The reduced first-time retail member rate is effective starting Friday, Feb. 22 and will run through Sept. 20.

Before this promotion, the retailer dues structure varied and was based on annual revenue. Dues ranged from $100 to $500 based on annual revenue ranging from less than $300,000 up to $2,000,000. Dues increased $500 for every additional million in revenue after $2 million.

To date, the Coalition counts with more than 500 industry members, including suppliers, distributors and retailers.

“Membership in Bikes Belong is an investment in the future of bicycling in the U.S. Better and safer places to ride will lead to more people bicycling more often, which will increase sales for bike businesses,” said Bruno Maier, senior vice president of Bikes Belong.

“Business owners and employees have a voice in the political process,” he added. “We need more retailers involved in advocacy, because they can make a difference in getting more bike facilities on the ground and more people on bikes.”

The Bikes Belong Coalition uses industry funding to improve government relations, expand its People For Bikes initiative, and to accelerate the construction of protected bikes lanes through the Green Lane Project.
